Because racialized misogyny is definitely A Thing That Happens. And, often, WoC characters will be hated on for thing white women characters can get away with or, at least, get less criticism for.

Sally Donovan doesn’t just dislike a rude asshole, she is one herself. She’s a bloody bully; only calling Sherlock ‘freak’ and openly ridiculing him in front of everyone.
There also seems to be a jealous element, where she can’t accept the fact that anyone is as smart as Sherlock and always suspects him of the crimes and when it doesn’t turn out to be him, just “deduces” that he must get off on it. Let’s not forget she was quick to jump on board of accusing him of murder.
I don’t think she’s a bitch but she’s got no reason to be defended because she’s just as much an asshole.
That said I think there is some history behind Sally and Sherlock that hopefully the show will delve into. Hate like that doesn’t just arise from nowhere. Sherlock even introduced her as “an old friend” to John when they met.
Is Sally Donovan a terrible person? Sure. Is she my least favorite person? Sure. But she hasn’t exactly done any “bitch”-worthy actions and I’m sure there are some deep seeded complexities to her as well. Maybe she’s projecting her anger?

I don’t recall how or where but several days ago I came across an interview with Lara Pulver, the actress of Irene Adler in BBC’s SHERLOCK.
There were just comments from men of all sorts just relentlessly BASHING her and the character, saying it’s the most sexist piece of trash they had ever…Let me love you, you perfect human being!

The thing is, she is an empowered female character, she´s a female character comfortable with her sexuality, with herself.
She loves Sherlock ( and vice versa) but none of that has to do with gender.
And that actually is the brilliance of the whole thing. This is a love story, between two exceptional people. A story about sometimes your heart just trumps your brain. And you lose. Or perhaps, you win something much more valuable.
And none of it has anything to do with gender.
I need to write that up. This needs more background thoughts
And I hope, and even though the purists might want to to skin me here, I just hope, they bring her back.
Exactly. People don’t seem to understand THAT. They say it’s an insult to women and that mentioning she’s gay was for male gaze only. But no!
You got it. This is about a love that transcends gender or romanticism. It’s just two brilliant people finding one another and not being able to help themselves.
Irene couldn’t help but be sentimental and make Sherlock her passcode and Sherlock couldn’t help but be sentimental and save her instead of letting her die.
The Sweetest Thing

On the non-stop 13 hour flight—she couldn’t sleep. And even now, on the lengthy car ride to the hotel, she couldn’t sleep.
It had been far too long since Tiffany had been back in the States. Though the company gave her some downtime in the winter to visit her family, this would be the first time in a long time where she would stay put in the country.
So how could she sleep? She was too excited. She was back on familiar ground again. And now that the group was going to be promoting in the States, she could enjoy it a little longer than the usual few days they stay for concerts.
And as she watched the skyscrapers blur past through the window, a sense of nostalgia came about her. And slowly, those thoughts began to resurface. “Have I chosen the right life?”, “Is this what I want?”, “Am I happy?”.
Even Tiffany didn’t know when these thoughts first popped into her head. All she knows is that they keep returning and has no idea on how to suppress them indefinitely. After all, she was happy, wasn’t she? Being a singer and being famous has always been a fairy tale dream of hers—so why did she feel so unsatisfied?
Of course, she had a basic idea as to why she’d been feeling so empty lately. Ever since the company announced at the beginning of the new year that their 5 year dating ban was up, her head’s been all over the place. What was the point of success if she had no one to share it with? And when could she even meet someone, especially with their packed schedule?
Unfortunately, she had not the slightest clue and it would have to be a problem saved for later. The taxi van had just come to a halt and the other girls were getting ready to leave.
From the front of the van, their manager called out asking, “You girls ready?” Everyone agreed in a cheerful unison as their manager got out to open their door for them. And as that door slid open, the girls were showered with the constant flash of cameras.
As Sunny was stepping out, Tiffany put on her sunglasses, fixed a smile, and stepped out into the limelight. She waved, flashed a broad smile here and there, giving the occasional shy and humble bow as well. All the while focusing on pushing back her feelings.

Uh, so..about half a year ago I wrote my first multi-part fanfic. I didn’t want to write smut so this is like a prologue chapter to give some inside.
I don’t get embarrassed easily but I feel sooo embarrassed sharing this publicly. I kinda really put myself into these characters when writing them so…yeah :x Uhm, if anyone likes it, I will consider releasing the other chapters :x
